VOICE OVER IP (VoIP)
Voice Over IP (VoIP) technology has literally changed the way phone systems operate. Put simply, VoIP allows your telephone system to exchange data with your computer, fax and mobile phone.
With a VoIP enabled phone, a colleague can leave you voice mail and your phone is able to send that voice data to your computer. With the appropriate software, your computer will convert that data to arrive as scribed text within an email - a great way to keep an instant record of any verbal correspondence.
VoIP enables voice calls, text, video terminals and faxes to be run from your computer - negating the need for a physical phone at all. VoIP also facilitates ‘hot desking’ as when you log onto a computer interstate or overseas, you can access your desktop, use your office phone number from a local phone and retrieve your voice mail.
