FUTURE PROOF
Future proof is a term that usually refers to telecommunications hardware such as a telephone handset or system. A ‘future proofed’ product will have all the functions that are compatible with today’s technologies, but as newer technologies are introduced into the market place, that product will adapt easily and economically.
A good example of this is a telephone system that is Voice Over IP compatible such as the NEC IPK. That system is future proofed, as many emerging technologies that will become standard functions over the life of the system and will require that a phone system is VoIP compatible.
