MERCURY CASE STUDY: THE GRAINS COUNCIL OF AUSTRALIA

Mercury Telephones has recently managed the complete business telecommunications upgrade for the Grains Council of Australia.

With a team of 10 staff, the Grains Council has recently physically separated its operations from the National Farmers Federation and needed to have a self sufficient telephone and data system that was able to cope with the high volume of work that is undertaken by the council and still have the flexibility to cope with any office relocations that occur.

Mercury tailored a solution that included the installation of a new NEC Xen Topaz telephone system that replaced their existing 10 year old system, the addition of Telstra broadband for the office as well as Telstra mobile broadband for the organisation's CEO.

Mobile broadband means that despite his extensive travel across the country, the Grains Council's CEO is continually in contact with his office and can even log into his office network without a land line.

The result: The Grains Council now has a high speed telephone and data system for
each member of staff and if an employee moves to a different location within the office, their telephone extension can be moved in a matter of minutes without needing the assistance of a technician.

As part of this restructure, Mercury has also delivered a rebate on their existing telephone system, refinanced the payment plan for the new telephone system and negotiated with Telstra, on the Grains Council's behalf, for a more cost effective account package.

By the Grains Council's own admission, the re-structure was a success. So much so that The Grains Council has recommended Mercury to all of its members.

All of us at Mercury wish the Grains Council the best of luck in their new offices.
